Lakers Top Bombers in Final Home Game of the Season

The Bombers used a shared open date and a schedule cancelation to pick up a game against one of the better teams in Region 1 on February 13. Calloway County visited The Green Palace with a 20-win season already to their accomplishment, with the Bombers looking for win number 19 on the season. Even though Jace Birney tossed in 28 points in the contest, including being 11-for-11 at the free throw line, and Kam English contributed 14; they could not keep pace with Calloway's Eli Finley who has 31 and Jonah Butler who had 24. The final score was 88-70.
Free Throw shooting has been an issue for the Bombers this season, but in hopefully a great sign for tournament play, BMHS shot 86% from the line on the evening making 24 of 28 attempts. The Bombers take on Fulton City at Fulton City on February 14, then finish the regular season at Trigg County on February 16.

Bombers Defeat St. Mary for Third Time, 64-57

In another competitive game, the defensive pressure of the BMHS Bombers eventually wore down the St. Mary Vikings, and the Guys in Green pulled out a 64-57 win on Senior Night, February 10. Senior Jamison Smith led the way with 16 points for the Bombers, and seniors Kam English and Jerico Wilson contributed 12 and 3 points, respectively.
Junior Phillip Duncan was the second leading scorer with 14 points. Jace Birney was limited to 9 points, Konner Myatt was 2 for 2 from the 3-point line for 6 points, and Keaton Overstreet scored 4 points. The win moved the Bombers' record to 18-9 on the season. They will take on Calloway County at home on February 13 in a JVB/VB doubleheader.

Birney Becomes 13th Member of Mens' 1000-Point Club

On Saturday, January 21, sophomore Jace Birney - wearing number 13 - scored his 13th point in the 3rd quarter of the game against Carlisle County, and he became the 13th member of the 1,000-point club in BMHS mens' basketball history. Birney finished with 19 points on the night. Keith Myers ('78-'82) is the all-time leading scorer in Bomber history with 1,776 points.

Bombers Run Past Bulldogs, 69-32

The BMHS boys basketball team had little difficulty in cruising past the Fulton City Bulldogs on Saturday, January 28. With a lead of 36 points in the 4th quarter, the game finished with a running clock and a 69-32 win for the Bombers. The win moves them to 17-7 on the season.
Jace Birney led the Bombers with 21 points, including five 3-point shots, and 4-for-4 free throw shooting. Konner Myatt was 3-for-3 from 3-point range and added a two-pointer for 11 points. Isaac Chandler, Phillip Duncan, and Jamison Smith each contributed 7 points to the cause.
The Bombers travel to Graves County on Tuesday, January 31 for a district re-match of the game that ended in a 73-71 overtime loss for the Bombers in December.

Bombers Suffer Tough Home District Loss

The third time playing the Mayfield Cardinals was not the charm for the Ballard Memorial Bombers. The margin was only four points at half and ten points for much of the second half. But, the Cardinals pulled away as another cold shooting night plagued the Bombers, and the fell 65-45 on January 27.
Jace Birney led the Bombers in scoring with 14, followed by Kam English with 11. The loss moved the Bombers to 16-7 on the season. The Bombers go to Graves County for a district game on Tuesday, January 31.

Bombers Pick Up 15th Win

Fans from Ballard and Carlisle Counties filed in to the Green Palace on Saturday, January 21 for the largest crowd of the season, and were treated to an up-and-down game that ended in a 70-56 win for the Bombers. In a game where Jace Birney 13th point made him the 13th player all-time to enter the 1,000 point club at BMHS, Birney led the Bomber scoring attack with 19 points.
Phillip Duncan and Jerico Wilson each added a dozen points. Jamison Smith added 11, Kam English 8, Jam Barber and Konner Myatt each had 3, and Keaton Overstreet had 2 points. The win moved the Bombers to 15-6 on the season. They will play at CCA on Tuesday, January 24.

Bombers Fall in All A Semi-Finals

Down 13 points at half, the Bombers cut the lead to as little as five but could not get any closer and fell to Mayfield in the semi-finals of the All A Tournament on January 13. The Bombers fall to 12-6 on the season and will host Hickman Co. and Tuesday, January 17.

3rd Time a Charm Again for the Bombers

Most coaches agree that it is hard to beat a team three times in a year, but the Bombers did just than when they defeated the Hickman County Falcons at the Green Palace on January 17. In a game where the Bombers found themselves trailing 10-7 after the first quarter, the guys in green warmed up and took a 30-22 lead at the half. The Bomber pressure eventually wore on the Falcons, and the final score was a 63-47 Bomber win.
The Bomber offensive attack included eight 3-pointers on the evening from five different players. Jace Birney led all scorers with 23, followed by Kam English and Jamison Smith with 10 each. The win moved the Bombers to 12-6 on the season. They will travel to Fulton County to take on the Pilots on Thursday, January 19.
